Act 1 Scene 2 Poem by brianna arnott

Act 1 Scene 2

Act 1 (Sleeping through it all)
Scene 2 (hopeless)

(the LOVER is in the BATHROOM. the LOVER steps out of the shower and wraps up in a towel. the LOVER is becoming transparent, and discovers this while facing the mirror. the LOVER grabs the phone and dials)

the LOVER: Life tastes so much better when it's fed through a needle, and ink in my blood lets me know where i've been. I'll stare into the sun, or the beam of this spotlight. Whichever whatever i can't tell, i don't care anymore.

(the LOVER punches the mirror and opens a deep gash, the starts screaming into the phone)

the LOVER: I'm scared to be alone! I know you'll forget me. I feel like im hopeless now. Drowning in me.

(the LOVER sinks to the floor and continue.)

the LOVER: When you find my body as it lies in the gutter. With open eyes frozen in desperate prayer. Promise me promise me you'll move my body before the street sweeper and brush me aside.

(looking at the blood the LOVER begins to cry)

the LOVER: I can't tell if this blood is mine or anothers. In this pile of corpses, we don't really care. Dismembered, discarded with garbage, we wonder if maybe it's better that we hae never lived.

(stll sobbing the LOVER hangs up the phone)
