Adages Poem by Jonathan Goldman a.k.a JGthepoet

Adages

Rating: 5.0

An Adage is a Proverb,
So we are told,
To abide by it is good
For the young and the old.

‘Love thy neighbour'
Is one which is hard to keep,
Love him in your heart ~ that is,
Not in your bed ~ to sleep.

Be kind to him and cherish him
As a friend,
Not love him in a way
That will others offend.

‘Do not unto others'
Is another to heed,
For your actions may make
The other's heart bleed.

Proverbs are Sayings,
By which we should live,
But advice to others
Is easy to give.
