Addiction Poem by Brian Archibald

Addiction

Rating: 5.0

Addiction,
It's no superstition
When your life seems thrown away,
& you'd rather die than live another day.
Nothing seems to hide the pain,
Except the man-made painkillers you think keep the pain away,
Before long your heart begins to crack,
Thoughts of losing your 'golden girl' seem desolating,
Killing the bonds with the ones you love,
& breaking your life into ridicule.

People see this side of the wall everyday,
A steel tipped needle entering the jugular
A white gleaming line processing in your mind
We try so hard to lose it on our own,
It kneels us down & kicks us to the ground
It heartaches & makes us shiver,
We feel cold & abused,
Thinking, 'This thing is a killer'.

Lose the juice,
Get away from the abuse
Look at yourself in the mirror,
Is their no other way to fragment your life back together?
