Adonis Poem by McKenzie Spaulding

Adonis

An unexpected sighting takes my breath away,
Could perfection really be attainable?
It must be, because there he stands.

The concave of his well-worn dimples mark the sign of a life full of smiles.
His voice flows methodically, carrying conversation.
His emerald and gold spheres burn, never changing.
Intently gazing into the sapphire of mine.
Just a glance calms my soul.

The comfort of his warm hand linked with mine can’t be found elsewhere.
Fuchsia and ginger light floods over the mountain peaks,
Caressing the contours of him face.
Solidifying each aspect.

In the vanishing illumination of day,
Stars begin to wink at us
Peeking though their velvet blanket.

As music slowly
But rhythmically,
Drifts out of the stereo,
We sway together in the perfect moment.

The melody dies out,
Crickets and owls replace the silence.

His warm embrace envelopes my body.
Love radiates from my heart
My mind drifts into a state of pure ecstasy.
