Adopted Poem by Krazy Rae

Adopted

All alone within my room
pieces of my life fading out
as the music blares.
I want nothing to do with
the people who were chosen to
be my family. There is nothing
I'd rather do than be rid of
them. My life is hard
but yet it could be harder.
Yet why do they always
have to throw religion
into everything it's not
all about religion anymore
and I could really care
less. These four walls have
become my room and my
cocoon to which I rarely
step foot out of. I have
no desire to be around
them. No wish to meet their
standards. I just want to
sit in the semi-darkness
with a pen and paper and
my music and stream my
thoughts onto the blank paper
