Adumbral (The Black Skinner) Poem by Bilal Abubakar Ibrahim

Adumbral (The Black Skinner)

The melanin in my body,
inspired the root of my skin
to flourish sheen swart layers.
Black as coal and thick
as coconut tree.

I am black, i am dark
favourite color of my heart.
Beneath each level of my skin
lies the mirror that reflects,
the glamour of my africa.
The home of my fathers
and my forefathers.

Under sun, under rain,
i go here, i go there,
climbing genus quercus
and tap tapping hills
yet my skin never scorches,
not even a scar would be on it.
only sweat would gushes out
sweat of labour of black skin

My skin is black and still
of high value, amazing features
lies on it. To be Black is something
of miracle, every color else is unfortunate.
only black can change his skin.
To become fair is simple as to kiss
but none but black can be black.
