Afraid Poem by Natalie Sapphire

Afraid

Afraid of growing old
Afraid of losing touch
Afraid he'll never know how I feel

Afraid of humiliation
Afraid of discrimination
Afraid they'll never know my love for them was real

Afraid of going for it
Afraid of ceasing the day
Afraid mom will never know that I am here to stay

Afraid of the dark forest
Where no one comes back out
Afraid dad will never know that what i was doing was only a form of play

She tells me to live in the moment
That life is for making mistakes
That no one is perfect

He tells me to do what i think is right
What i think is the best thing to do

So i dream
Live
Laugh
Make mistakes
Learn
Show how i feel
And be who i was meant to be
Who i want to be

No longer afraid
Just ready for the baseball life throws at me,
From any direction
