Africa will rise again
From leaders who are desperate
To loot
To those desperate to shoot
She will rise again
From those yearning
To make it through wrong
To those who boycott the wrong
She will rise again
From people
Ready to do anything
To those ready to quench everything
Yes I know she will rise again
From leaders
Who are bitter
To those who are better
My heart is stony
That she will rise again
From the bondage of ignorance
To the peak of assurance
She will rise again
To pull off the garment of pessimism
Which her elder children bought her
To wear that of optimism which her younger ones bought her
Surely, mother Africa will rise again
As the most beautiful
And cherished Queen
Of the divine
