After The Fix Poem by Lacie Hebert

After The Fix

You came in soft like a calm night breeze,
said all the right shit so naturally.
I thought you were peace, thought you were fate,
didn't know pain could imitate.

Started off light, just late-night talks,
then your silence started shaking my thoughts.
Every text hit like a drug in veins,
every goodbye left phantom pains.

I lost myself tryna keep you close,
turned your chaos into what I wanted most.
Called it love when it was need,
fed my soul things that made it bleed.

And even when I knew the cost,
I stayed around and got more lost.
That's the thing about addiction's kiss—
you don't see the chain until you miss.
