Afterlife Poem by Shopnil Mahamud

Afterlife

Rating: 3.0

Remember the day? Remember the night?
Deep in silence I've drowned in moonlight.
Dark and deep finally I sleep,
In veil disguised a dead man's weep.

Beyond my sorrow, beyond all the pains
Immortal and free, tied in no chain.

Afterlife, a journey to the end, in a void in vain
Afterlife, where do I rest, am I cursed or blessed?

It's time to ascend n fly, the last flight through the sky
Knocking at the doors of ethereal sky- a harbor in need, please don't defy!
Sky says with a smile - who are you to me and why?

Afterlife, a journey to the end, in a void in vain
Afterlife, where do I rest, am I cursed or blessed?

Falling upon the sea-shore from the doors of the sky,
A womb of the ocean, thought would never defy!
Ocean says to me - who are you and why?

Hovering in the wind, melt in moonlight,
Lost I am climbing eternal height.

Wind comes whispering - I too am lost like you
Ride on me, drink from the river or silent sea,
Let me take you home where you could be free.

Returning where I lay, wailed and embraced my clay
See I'm home, open the door and take me in again,
And my body says in dismal sigh - who are you to me...
Today?
