The time has come and gone
When you were home with us
Only six months has past
Since you got off that bus

Here I am again
Alone in my bed
A baby on the way
And some hard times ahead

I love you more than ever
That much I know is true
But you being away
Makes me sad and blue

I have said it many times
How much I want and need you here
But being in a war
It’s part of your career

I go to bed tonight
And dream of our love profound
And pray to God above
You come home safe and sound
