The caged bird sings
dreaming of freedom
from cramped wings
and broken things
it sings of being free
from
what
to be a part
the crowd the man
closes his eyes demanding
quiet peace and
try it
just a second

stop

to think
to feel
to dream again
my friends my friends
I'm crowded and

all gone and now

the
wasted land again
the sand again
alone and free
too free to be I need
again
to be
again
with people
searching
scraping
an oasis far away and
back again to drink and slake
my thirst and then
away again

Why can't we be
content with now
and then this place and time is perfect when
you stop to look and just enjoy
the joy the pain the fear the tears
it's all a mess
a perfect mess
stop

running away and just accept
don't leave again
remember when
you were here with me
this time and place
the smile your face
yes that smile!
the - wait! I can't just wait
for you it's all too soon
we move too soon
we move too fast
and zen is right here
