Against All Odds Poem by Sab O. Ibrahim

Against All Odds

Ashake,
Do you know,
What it takes to be shivering beneath the scorching sun?
Or be producing a sea of sweat under the freezing rain?
Have you ever seen a face comforted by agony?
Like a dull onyx set in a crown of thorns?

Have you ever been blind,
Yet you could see unaided?
Have you ever been crippled,
Yet you could run as fast as Hussein Bolt?
Have you ever been sick,
Yet the only cure is the cause of the sickness?

Did you know?
That love can touch you one time,
and last for a lifetime.
As it sunk in to your heart,
Your life is put together and it's never apart,
As it penetrates your veins,
it flushes off your pains.

Did you know?
Falling in love with you is easy,
For a man like me,
Though always boisterous and busy,
Yet I could see and capture your beauty,
I could think and
Picture your dignity,
I could dream of us,
In peace and tranquility.

Despite being blinded by your love,
I see...
Despite being choked by your love,
I breath...
Despite being dominated by your love,
I think...
Despite being drowned by your love,
I live...
Against All Odds!

Did you know?
That the thought of you shapes my heart,
gives it life,
With glitters of hope,
And Litters of joy.
I'm overwhelmed by your beauty,
Hypnotized by your witty,
Mesmerized by your pretty,
Dignified by your dignity,
for I am very glad to have you,
Against All Odds!
