Alarm Clock Poem by Juan Olivarez

Alarm Clock

The alarm clock rings by my bed,
I sit straight up and bang my head.
Why is the alarm ringing at all,
Look what I'm doing to my wall.

There's a bump rapidly growing on my pate,
And my alarm clock I am learning to hate.
It always goes off at the wrong time,
And remains silent when it should chime.

I'm going to throw it in the trash,
Or take it to the pawn shop for some cash.
Or maybe I'll just give it a healthy whack,
By now the store won't take it back.

There it goes ringing again,
You know maybe I should'nt complain.
At least it got me up on time,
Now I won't be way behind.
