Have you ever seen a spider
That got blotto drunk on cider
And made a brand-new web shape on his own?
Heaving sighs as flies flew through
The gaps that some flies do,
Each flying by to leave him all alone.
It was true, his head was spinning
All the time, he was not winning,
Still thinking of more drinking even now!
There were times he had to swoon
As he approached that afternoon,
Still hoping he would get to live, somehow!
He vowed the next day he would quit,
Yet that was not the end of it,
That spider's much more tipsy now than then!
While you'd think tall guys are stronger,
All these drunken guys live longer!
And vow
They'll give up booze!
Ah, yes!
BUT WHEN?

Here is a liddle spider poem by the Poemhunter poet Denis Martindale. He takes the example of a spider that discovered some drops of cider and could not spin a spider's web as he did before. He was totally unprepared for the drunken state he was in, yet still thinking of drinking a few drops more. The poet refers to adult men being taller and stronger. How would they respond? Each man was a decider! Would they decide to be clever? Or stay as drunks forever?
