Alive In Sound Poem by Shannon Thompson

Alive In Sound

light falls into a shadow on the floor
mixing sweat melts together
forms a bond like nothing before
bass line beats a new heart for me
can't think can't breathe but to scream
drenched in someone else's smell
second-hand highs bright fights
the crowd reverbs the echos
until the music comes from them as well
sway like grass in the sea
wet with happiness dripping from my body
no one knows and no one cares
stumble in the dark but get caught
and lifted by the vibrations higher
than the cigarettes could ever take me
when it's over leave the dark room
like a new picture of myself developed
the ringing in my ears celebrates along
feeling new and clean and born in sound.
