All For Him Poem by Grace Mukoro

All For Him

One captivating smile,
Sends me tumbling back into the past
Like a cycle I can't break through
I keep falling again

I hear your voice
Even when your shadow is nowhere near
I try to move forward
But that appealing perfume draws me near

Your name echoes through a silent room
But when I look up, you're only in my head
Why does one young soul
Make my heart feel like a prisoner

You stand beside me
Yet the thoughts in my head begin to race
Thinking of the laughter you share with another heart
Leaves a silent pain I can't replace

I know your hands are in mine
Your heart desires mine
But jealousy is a stubborn soul
Following me when I see those eyes
