All I Can Is Dream! Poem by Rimni chakravarty

All I Can Is Dream!

Since the days of my childhood, when enjoyed reading Robin Hood
I loved to dream
The children of my age played in the open
I sat with a book in my garden
Never did I enjoy reading the subjects of science nor mathematics, but all I loved was poetry
Oh! How I remember the girl carefree
At times my mother used to scream
As the girl in frock had set sailed in her day dream
Now what was the dream?
She did not yearn for chocolate cream
But dream t of the prince, princess kings and their queens who live happily ever after
I still remember how I burst into laughter
My elders would get cross as to why the children always laugh
The oldies are there to cough

Now the little girl grew up and in mid forties she still dreams
Only the color of the dream has faded
Coz the eyes have become jaded
But then rainbows do arise in a cloudy sky
And birds still fly.
Yes I can do is only dream
Life may not flow like the waters in a stream
It may be rocky, it may be thorny
Still I dream, to fly to my muse
I am fed up with the world of abuse.
