I do not see, I cannot hear
the darkness is too much to bear
my lonely heart cries out in pain
and act I do, at times in shame
but deep I know that all is well
that mercy always conquers hell
that love is strong and death is weak
that pain moves me at once to seek
the face of One whose trace I know
will never fail to love bestow
and so I wait in calm restraint
and deep within my heart I faint
for love of God, who opens wide
the treasures of a great, great tide
