All Or Nothing Poem by Shadow Girl

Told myself
it was better to feel
everything
than
nothing at all.
By blocking out the bad
i was also suppressing any good
that happened to come my way.
Well in theory it sounded true.
Reality, my friends, does not always follow theory.
Because cold turkey hits you like a blast
and wakes you up with a thud.
And all emotions come hurtling back
slapping, piercing
left, right, centre
feelings, long forgotten
hurtling back, forcing their way in
good, bad, indifferent
confusion, spinning, lost, found
which way?
back, forwards
no light to guide,
no darkness to hide.
Facing reality-
alone yet surrounded
by chaos, streaks of life
flashing
coming, going.
Staying-
Questions overflowing.
Answers hiding;
needing to be found.
