All These Poems Taken Together / Don'T Make One Good Day's Pay
All these poems taken together
Do not make one good day's pay-
A lifetime of struggle
for the wages of the soul onl-
,
And the real world
that impossible thing
with its never- ending demands
mocking me -
The small failure who could never make much money,
But could always write at night
more words which said
Beauty and Love and Hope
Somehow will prevail
even through the Poverty which demeans.
