All These Scars Poem by Abby Mize

All These Scars

You pull me from the light
Then shove me in the dark
Do you know what I was feeling
When you left a permanent mark

The scar isn't on my skin
Or visible in the light
The scar has marked my heart
No longer can I fight

You won't ever like my choices
You won't know the reason why
You won't understand my life
Until you see me cry

I will smile during school
I will laugh at a funny joke
But when I'm by myself
It's obvious that I'm broke

That was the last chance
You cut the remaining rope
All because of you
I sit around and mope

My heart is like a prisoner
Locked behind metal bars
Do not forget the things you said
Remember all these scars
