Almost Poem by Lethabo Chabalala

Almost

I now know
I dreamed you up one December ago
First it was summer dresses
Blue skies and plaid shirts
Ripe grass, whiskey and lime mixtures in short glasses
And soft music in the background

Then a purple sunset hovering over sounds
Of an intimate soiree where pretty girls giggled
Who men hung around

It was me catching my beat in a lie
Pretending you hadn't caught my eye
While you orbited me
Watching me as I...
Ah never mind
