"My soul is carried away in peace; I forget what happiness is." - Lamentations 3: 17

ALMS
By jez rico cuenta

The lamentations are so terrible
The gloom of the night that wraps up today,
Those little ones are freaking out
In an overly impatient hunger.
**
In the severity of disease they just shed tears
They watch for their child twisted in pain
The unfortunate mother uttered;
"O God, have mercy on us."
**
On the cold sidewalk there they laid down
With her the oldest and youngest child.
With only a cardboard to cover and blanket is gone
The cold of the night was a further blow.
**
This mother and her children are in great distress
Tired of the day being a beggar,
To be eaten only when someone begs
When there's no one to be kind, in hunger they will be filled.
**
The father who should have been their support,
Lives in other and have his own life-
Has other families that he were taken into custody
And those unfortunate ones has already forgotten.
**
So when it's always late at night
This poor mother while working hard
God help them have something to eat tomorrow,
Or else their lives will surely end.
