Alone Poem by Marc Jude Fernandes

Alone

Since childhood's hour I have not seen
As others saw; I have not been
As others were; I could not bring
To reality any of my dreams

Silent tears I have cried
All these years for my bride
Though she's nowhere to be seen
She exists in my dreams

The caravan of my dreams
Has stopped for a while
There are no more dreams to dream
Harsh reality begins to smile

And I thirst alone
I hunger alone
Everything is but a dream within a dream

I am a poet; I am not
To be a loner is my lot
I'm so sad but I'm not distraught
Solitude my soul has sought
