Woe to me if I do not write
It's a mortal sin of which I am guilty
So cast me away from thy holy sight
And lock me in the dungeons of misery

A pall of gloom descends on the land,
Hope & sanity drifts like the desert sand,
Days of joy & merriment seem buried in the past,
Alas! mourn how our dancing days didn't last.

We are still living under contagion's shadow,
But that won't blur out our hopes for a new tomorrow,
However restless our night may be,
A new dawn certainly we will see.

Mother of sorrows take me in your arms
Keep me safe away from all unwanted charms
I have rejected the world in all its vanity
I have entered the abode of Mother Melancholy

When I look in the eye of the past,
And dream of how things were in days of yore.
I yearn for mankind's story to be recast.
And a prayer escapes my lips: yesterday once more.
