alone at night when i cannot sleep
i think of you, and i feel so silly and young.
how can this be when i set aside all that i
have learned all those strengths all given.
i once remember how i laugh at all of them
all morons and nincompoops in the arena of
love and all betrayed and defeated all dead
and buried without that hope of resurrection.
alone at night when i cannot sleep i always think
of you and weep. I feel you so young and so silly.
i feel the humiliation and the pain and the insult
that here i am, too high in my pedestal, shall walk
down this throne, and walk in shame and the fall
down from the heavens, a star fallen, hitting the
depths of the ocean, twirling and sinking down to
the ocean floor, condemned and then unknown.
