Alone, Mom Poem by maira galeana

Alone, Mom

You gave me the opportunity to open my eyes and see the world.
You didn't stop me from Running, So for if i fall, I can get up, Alone.
You never told me if what i did or said was a mistake. Alone, I Learned.
You smiled to when ever i accomplished something without your help.
You never put pressure on me, even when i tried to say 'Mommy.'
You once thought that letting me do, say or learn things alone was a mistake, but honestly, it was the best thing you did.
You taught to never depend on someone, or that forever they will be by my side.
You showed me to learn the values of things without needing someone to point them out for me.
You, most importantly, made me understand that I must always be ready for any challenges that god decides to put in my life.
You never stopped showing me thoe, that you loved me and while god lets you live, you will be there for me.
You, mommy, my best friend, is who i thank god for, the most.
