Alone My Love! Poem by Sara Tober

Alone My Love!

We are alone my love,
No one to neither see nor hear.
What a sad little life,
As ours will soon end.
We dance one last time my love,
For what’s a world without each other.
We were told not to see each other,
By our families thus.
We came up with a plan, my love.
To marry,
It did not last long,
For we were torn apart by death.
They say you killed someone my love,
But really you didn’t,
Not for vengeance anyway.
What they say,
Versus what you do,
Is something different, my love.
The way you hold me my love,
Is a way I’ll never forget,
Even if it’s the last time.
Let’s go my love,
It is almost time.
We tried to run,
Tried to hide.
We are caught,
Forever condemned.
The enemy will not be merciful,
But what do we care,
We’re together.
It feels like I am alone,
When you are next to me.
Their leader,
The captain,
Has me pinned,
To his bed,
Forcing you to watch,
With saddening eyes.
I am being forced upon,
You are being tortured.
After awhile the captain takes his leave,
We are alone once again,
Hurt and alone.
He comes in once again,
This time with his men with him.
They make us stand,
While they drag us to the ships deck.
We face each other one last time,
We watch each other die,
As we are shot,
Not before we say “I love you” to each other.
After all is said and done,
We are dumped over the ship,
Never to be seen again…
Or so they say…
