Always Toujours Poem by Douglas Scotney

For their 'always',
instead of 'toujours',
the French could have used 'toutemps'.
En fait, aussi 'toufois' et 'tousheures'.

For ours
we could have chosen 'alboulevards',
'alavs' and 'news'.

That fit is important in shoes
and that seeds in spring are sown,
I seem alpaths to have known -
to have those two thats known news.

I could only have known
how greasy your ears get
since the advent of the mobile phone,
and I cannot have known alroads
that tadpoles turn to toads.
