Am I chasing dreams or chasing ghosts
How do I clear the stare of the past
without locking eyes with what I want most
Still guarding my thoughts when I sleep
so visions of you don't creep in
and seep between my fears
and all that I hold dear
Certain that you'll always be lurking near
somewhere in my mind
and all the time that heals all wounds
opens more cuts and bleeds anew
because in love in pain we're still chained
and being free of you
means cutting through me
so I guess I'll be failed love's latest amputee
