Amaris Poem by Phil Volatile

Amaris

With a smile as pure
as God’s cocaine, she
disarms even the
coldest of hearts and
draws eyes like
steel-tipped arrows
over castle walls

Her silky appearance
clings to my thoughts
like a twice-worn
wedding dress clings
to hope

And nothing will
suffice when the girl
with the green eye shadow
wisps away

from Crushed Black Velvet
