Amaryllis, Haiku's Poem by Mark. A Heathcote

Amaryllis, Haiku's

Amaryllis - love-struck
her heart was for his taking
Keep it, said Alteo
*
shedding drops of blood
Amaryllis pierced her heart
with a gold arrow
*
it is spellbinding
how your strength and beauty
shine, Amaryllis
*
with a bleeding heart
cold-hearted Alteo didn't care
Amaryllis should wilt
*
desperate to win
Alteo's love—Amaryllis
bled out from her heart
*
scarlet flowers grew
on the path between Alteo
and Amaryllis
*
Alteo was later
smitten with Amaryllis
admired her blooms
*
scarlet flowers
crimson as a bleeding heart
bloomed for Alteo
