To church, past week I hadn't been
on account of the shape I'm in
I sat among the congregation
In holy honor and obligation
But I had an embarassing situation
When a certain hymn was sung
As the simple words left my tongue
'Amazing Grace' made me cry
I heard my voice begin to quiver
Felt the tears forming in my eye
And now I'm reflecting as to why
Maybe sad mixed with happy
Lately I've been a little sappy
Don't know why this simple hymn
Made me feel so close to him
