Amber Poem by Yenum Iwenwa

Amber

Rating: 5.0

It's been a few weeks now.
I've known her for a while.
Never have I talked to her.
I'm quite content knowing her from afar.
Her skin is like freshly kneaded dough.
I know it doesn't seem like an apt description.
But it does give off scintillating lights.
Can't say her body puts Venus to shame.
But it definitely is the next best thing.
For upon seeing her, you'd have to admit.
It's like a work of art, crafted not by one god.
But done in tandem by a group of them.
The first time I heard I voice.
It was like chimes made from seashells.
Hair that seems to glow like coral.
Or like the glittering skin of a seal.
Sunbathing on a on a beach rock.
I dream of her during sultry and balmy nights.
In my dreams.
She walks down the street in flowing gown.
Light as a specter, gliding like a feather.
The wind caught in her hair.
And like a cape, billows behind her.
You'll realize that I still haven't described her face.
Or maybe you haven't noticed.
But if you are and wondering why.
Then that's only because till now,
I don't know what she looks like.
I can only imagine.
