While I agree that in general the East is percieved as being more inclined toward the spiritual, (and the West tends to focus on the material) I don't believe either exists exclusively in one perspective. Try to open your mind to understanding that many, many thoughtful spiritual people abide in the West as well.
And as for materialism, a man who may be the richest in the world, Mukesh Ambani, is building a new home with 60 stories. Does not that indicate that India as well is home to people who place emphasis on the material?
