American Flag Poem by Jackie Thielman

American Flag

The bitter sweet flag
Hangs in the balance
In this almighty storm
It is a lion in its heart while it sways
Yet shows grace and pride
To all that watch
This wonderful American Flag

Well-built sturdy thing
Stand for so much
In the eyes of a child
This flag is the
Security blanket of freedom

Betsy Ross the creator
A worthy woman
For she has the will
To make a big wonderful thing
For all the people of the U.S. A.

As a student I say
The pledge everyday to the flag
Yet do not appreciate
What it stands for

But as I walk to the bus
And I pass the American Flag
I take a second to think
Of what it this it means.
And to me it means
That this is one of many
Thing in this nation
That stands for my
and everyone else’s freedom
