Amy's Sister Poem by izzie jonesmunroe

Amy's Sister

Her lips are cracked, skin white as snow
She has not seen daylight for years now
Her hands are weak, her mind lost in time
Her feet are turning blue, heart already frozen
No shine more in her hair, no life left in her pale blue eyes
She holds on to darkness, her only comfort
She embraces the cold, she does not care anymore
Her voice exists no more, a whisper remains

This is not what she asked for, though
Not in the beginning, no

She once knew the sun, and how it shines
She was free, somehow, she is no more
How she keeps face during the day, so brave, I will never know
But it is at night, when she dies, again,
A thousand deaths at once, untill morning....

She dreads the seconds 'till darkness
But when the time comes, she welcomes it
Like the old friends they are, they make love
Untill morning comes, they declare their love
And a new day has dawned
