An Afternoon In Tay Do Poem by Natasa To

An Afternoon In Tay Do

Soft sunlight falls by the riverside,
Tay Do, wind-swept, vast with the pulse of life.
Can Tho is truly beautiful—
Ninh Kieu Wharf awaits, where boats drift lazily.

Coconut palms lean their shadows along the bank,
The echoes of folk songs mingle with sweet verses.
Twilight dyes the high heavens in shades of violet;
Who has entrusted their longing to the river's flow?

Oh Tay Do, do you know?
So many far from home still yearn to return.
Though one may wander distant lands and mountains,
The love of home forever soothes the heart.

This afternoon, the wind whispers gently,
The Hau River murmurs a soft, tender lullaby.
Tay Do—a love cherished for ages;
To stay but one afternoon is to never wish to leave.
