An Azure Sky Poem by Lawrence Ji

I open my eyes
and see a land full of flowers
blue, red, purple, silver
they are all there
sculpted with loving hands
in the azure sky
the golden sun winks at me

upon the land of hope
the land of dreams
the land of zeal
the land of passion
the land of fire
the land of heat
the land of gentleness
the land of ice
the land of steel
the untamed land
the new land
the eternal land
the land of ages
the land of love

in the distance
i see a maiden upon her throne of flowers
she wears a white hat
covering her face
she wears a white veil
covering her face
she wears a white dress
she is pure
innocent
the epitome of love

she is wearing a black hat
but shows her face
she wears a black veil
but i see her face
she wears a black dress
but is broken inside
her heart is torn
fragmented
destroyed beyond repair

this maiden looks toward me
smiles
with two mouths
one of pain
one of happiness
and i run
run
run towards her
into her warm embrace
her cold embrace
before I die.
