An Easter Vigil Poem by Royston Nella

An Easter Vigil

He's dead! I cannot believe that He's just died.
They beat Him and had Him crucified.
Now He's gone. The One I used to follow,
and without Him life is bleak and hollow.

What shall I do and where shall I go?
Please tell me what to do, for I don't know.
My hope's all pulverised and dashed.
My world has fallen apart and crashed,

We were a team and now we're scattered.
For our lives in turmoil and are shattered.
We listened to Him and obeyed what He said.
Followed Him everywhere …. But now He's dead!

The horrors of yesterday haunt me so
and I'm all distraught with nowhere to go.
Come, stay with me and let us Vigil keep
for I want to pray and I cannot sleep.

Let's keep watch through the long hours of the night
until the sun brings its glorious light.
For remember that our Lord Jesus said
that in three days He'd come back from the dead
