An Empire Of Lies Poem by Ojeikpo Elijah

An Empire Of Lies

In the land of deceit,
Where shadows reign supreme,
There lies an empire of lies,
A twisted, deceptive scheme.

Built upon fragile foundations,
Of fabricated tales,
It stands tall and powerful,
But its truth always fails.

For every brick of falsehood,
That's stacked to the sky,
There's a single truth waiting,
To bring its downfall nigh.

The ruler of this empire,
Is the master of disguise,
With a silver tongue and cunning,
He keeps the people mesmerized.

But one single truth,
Can shatter his throne,
And reveal the empire of lies,
For what it truly has shown.

The people of this kingdom,
Are blind to the truth,
For they're fed lies every day,
Since the days of their youth.

But like a dark cloud looming,
One truth can bring the rain,
And wash away the facade,
That's caused so much pain.

For an empire of lies,
Is built on a fragile base,
And when the truth surfaces,
It's bound to lose its grace.

So let us hold fast to truth,
And see through the disguise,
For in the end, it's the only weapon,
To defeat this empire of lies.
