An Eye To An Eye
is often a tie
a fault for a fault
(and where it may apply)
both get what they don't deserve.
And an eye that's in squint
from fragments of lint
can stir up a good flush
(where the pupil may glint)
and it wont get what it deserves.
But an eye that is shut
weeping stories in smut
may receive a good wipe
(and tidy it somewhat)
yet gets what it deserves.
