An Infant's First Thought Poem by Mohammad Younus

An Infant's First Thought

In the jarring shock of arrival,
a thought ignites, a yearning—
born of separation's sting,
A question veiled in light.
The silken thread of memory,
severed, frays at last,
Whispering faintly to the soul,
"How did I fall so fast? "

Once cradled by the Divine,
in realms of tranquil hue,
Where love encircled endlessly,
like golden rays anew.
Who would forsake such peace,
such rest beyond compare?
Yet here, the infant stirs,
in a world cold and bare.

The first thought quivers softly,
a ripple in the stream,
"What unseen hand has drawn me
here into this world dream? "
A question hung in timeless skies,
wrapped in eternity's lace,
As the soul perhaps rebegins its journey—
through time, through boundless space.
