An Odd Bobcat Poem by Donal Mahoney

An Odd Bobcat

An odd bobcat
my father was
looked more like

a Siamese asleep
in his recliner
till a nightmare

from the war
woke him and
he sat up snarling

whiskers aflame
teeth brilliant
diamonds

glistening as
we kids sat there
quietly hoping

he would
fall asleep again
because we had met

the Siamese
and didn't want to
meet the bobcat
