An Ode To Mama Poem by Stephen Olufemi Omolara

An Ode To Mama

Rating: 5.0

Iye Femi, you held the moon and the sun
So that I, stars could pick.
Hunger you bravely faced, that my stomach will rumble not,
You stooped so low, others your head stepped
That I they not forcefully humbled.
I the midst of scarcity, little you ate
I surplus plenty you kept, not for you but that I go hungry not.
Your cloths were labelless that high ends brands can I wears
For me, in prayers your head always bowed till it was eternally bowed in rest.
Tough as nail, yet soft as a pap: a heart of diamond soft as butter.
With teary eyes I wrote, adieu mama.
