An Open Letter. Poem by emmanuelle sanders

An Open Letter.

Your life ain't perfect, somebody would say,
There'd be a time where you can't do it your way.
There are haters, also friends,
That you'll, in some times, depend.

I know I'm not perfect, yes, this is true,
I can make others laugh, others feel blue.
But I also know that I messed up a lot,
And it makes me feel that I'm gonna rot.

You think I'm obsessed, I know, I've heard,
That's why you don't talk to me, I did observe.
I apologize for it, 'cause that is why
In the eyes of others, I look like I'd die.

You hate me for what, for being twelve?
You treat me like I'm just an elf!
What's the matter with you, you insolent fool,
Do you think that I'll follow your rule?

I know that you hate me, 'cause I disrespected you.
And I've apologized a lot, but this time, it's true.
It's really a burden, seeing myself in distress.
So once again, I'm sorry, I'm such a mess.
