A truly special and wonderful gift,
entered the world one fine day
a truly loving and special friend,
sincere and devoted to the end,
a mother, a strong Nubian Queen,
a paragon of fairness, judge of none,
the birth of a new morning star
that's right, bright as the risen sun.

She stood for justice and apart,
and yet she stood firm with all,
a kindly disposition, a humble heart,
and always she rose this blessed soul,
against all the odds, much still untold,
she knew why the caged bird sung
glad poetic verses, wings to unfold,
and knew that right could not be wrong

A quite special and trademark smile
that was the great lady's style;
as we gladly hung on to her every word
the sweetest that you've ever heard,
in each breath taken, a vibrant life
something special to warm our spirits,
make us laugh, uplift, restore or binds
words of wisdom, nuggets of gold
firmly etched in our collective minds,
among the stars she walks forever bold.
