And She Spoke Poem by Bryan Schroat

And She Spoke

And she spoke
And I listened with my eyes
And heard with all of my heart the things she said
And she spoke
As we lay wrapped in blankets
As the rain fell heavily outside
And for a moment
I had no scars
And left comfortable in my own skin
And for a moment
I was able to look into the eyes of another
Without hiding
And she spoke
And I saw light around her
And there was warmth in her words
And she spoke
And her hands did explain her passions with grace
And she spoke
And there was calmness in the air
And I could breathe
And she spoke
Of control and addiction
And the thin line in between
And she spoke
And there were angels above her
Smiling down upon her being
And she spoke
And I listened with hunger
And did stare in awe
And she spoke
And for once I thought not of myself
But of the concerns of another
And she spoke
And I was speechless
And she spoke
And her words made her beautiful
