And So It Goes Poem by Joe Abbate

And So It Goes

The heart bleeds
A shallow structure
Cracked by the weight of days lost
Fragile, fertile, futile, forever

A glimpse of promise
Destroyed by random
Words of cruelty and control
Leaning, longing, lacking, lasting

Days spent in a miniature world
The sky shouts
A drizzle of acid rain
Diminished, degraded, directed

Deathly

The promise of tomorrow
Overshadowed
The pain of today
Swallows me whole

There is nothing left
